Bölüm 1
A hiss of hydraulics tore through the thick silence as Kaia’s eyelids fluttered, shards of neon blue slitting open against a backdrop of shadowed wires and licking orange sparks. Cool metal pressed against her temples. The air smelled like burnt circuits and sterile antiseptic—sharp, unnatural, suffocating. Her breaths came shallow, jagged, as if her lungs were remembering how to expand.
Her vision fractured into static; jagged lines crisscrossed the darkness before her like electrical interference. An echo—a distant echo—of mechanical whirs buzzed faintly inside her skull, synchronizing with a cold pulse beneath her skin. The sudden weight of absence pressed down, dragging her consciousness from a void too deep to grasp.
Kaia’s fingers twitched—then jerked violently as numbness clawed away, spreading from the tips inward. The first spark of agony ricocheted through her nerves, a raw, ceaseless fire that jolted her fully into the dim chamber. Wires tattooed her arms and neck in jagged patterns, gleaming beneath veined plexiglass.
“System reboot: neural sequence reinitializing.” That crisp metallic voice—disembodied but omnipresent—whispered like a ghost beside her mind. Cold logic pried open the cage of her fogged thoughts. She hated it. Hated how easily they’d gripped her soul and twisted it like a toy.
The scaffold around her chest hissed, releasing a pale mist. Her skin prickled where synthetic flesh met raw metal, as if the two halves of herself warred silently beneath her skin. A voice, deep and cruel, echoed faintly on the backwave of her memory—a fragment she refused to place.
Lucien. The name struck sharp and jagged, like ice shards grinding against bone.
Kaia’s breath caught then spasmed, catching in a throat that seized tight as memories surfaced—blinding flashes of violence, glass shattering, cold hands holding her down beneath the grinding roar of machinery. Her vision swam with fractured images—flickering neon signs in splintered alleys, the gleam of retinal implants scanning her like prey, a crucible of white light that had swallowed her whole.
She swallowed hard. Rattling, synthetic limbs trembled beneath the weight of awakening.
“Status: 87% neural reintegration,” the voice droned on, unyielding and indifferent.
“Who—?” Her voice cracked, ragged and raw. The sound was alien to her own ears.
“Subject: Voss. Kaia Voss. Identity fragments restored: incomplete. Memory cache corrupted.” The voice paused, as if scanning some hidden database within her mind. “Vital control systems online. External communication suppressed. Critical functions stabilized.”
Kaia’s heart—if the spliced cog beneath her ribcage could be called that—pounded unevenly against the cage of her synthetic rib plating. She felt the faint thrum of power beneath her skin—an orchestra of bioelectric nerves, cracked metal joints straining to obey a will barely hers.
“Memory cache corrupted.” The phrase echoed like cold iron hammered against glass.
The cage shifted, a mesh of servos tightening around her spine as if harnessed to hold her in place. Panic surged like molten acid, burning through the synapses firing in her fractured cortex. She forced her eyes to scan the room. Flickering fluorescent tubes bathed jagged steel walls in a sickly yellow glow, tangled with shadow.
The stench of oil, burnt plastic, and something metallic—blood?—hovered thick and unrelenting.
Voices—distant, distorted, and harsh—rose over the mechanical hum outside the sealed chamber.
“Subject Voss is unstable. Neural feedback spike detected.” The voice cracked with a sharp edge.
Kaia slammed her eyes shut against the onslaught of sensations and a torrent of scrambled images. Her mind a fractured mirror, shards reflecting stolen moments she could no longer piece together.
She felt the ghost-touch of someone else's hands—rough, invasive—along the sensitive edge where flesh met circuit. The pressure of control. Of captivity.
A sudden surge—a cascade of fragmented data scrambling to force itself into clarity—burst inside her mind: a code sequence pulsating like a heartbeat.
It was indecipherable but charged with terrible power.
Then—
Her cybernetic cortex lit up, veins of cobalt scrolling beneath translucent synthetic skin, as a cascade of numbers and symbols flashed rapidly.
Awakening Protocol.
The code glimmered with promise and threat—promise of answers, and threat of control beyond her grasp.
Kaia’s lungs burned as she sucked in ragged air, her whole body trembling between fierce will and desperate confusion. Somewhere outside, the cold shadow of Lucien Ryker loomed—as merciless and calculating as the metal cage that held her.
Her eyes snapped open once more, the neon-lit world blurring, shifting—the copy of herself they wanted to control flickering like a dying star.
She clenched her fists, fingernails scraping against synthetic flesh and burned wiring beneath her skin.
They had stolen her past.
But the code pulsing in her mind told her one thing:
Her awakening had only just begun.
