Bölüm 1

The Unbreakable Vow

The rain beat against the window like desperate fingers, blurring the city’s fractured lights into molten streaks. Lena Maris sat hunched over the cracked leather armchair in the dimly lit parlor of the Maris estate—her fortress, her prison. The scent of damp paper and fading jasmine drifted through the cold air, shadows twitching like nervous secrets along the peeling wallpaper. Beyond the glass, the metropolis roared—an unyielding pulse of neon and steel masked beneath a veil of suffocating silence.

Lena’s fingers trembled as she clutched the frayed photograph, edges worn like the fraying threads of her own sanity. A man’s sharp face stared back—pale eyes like twin knives. Her brother’s. Gone. Lost in a darkness of whispers and blood. The silence in the house deepened, pressing on her from all sides. Every creak and sigh was a reminder: she was alone. The last Maris, standing guard over a ruin that demanded loyalty more lethal than any weapon.

The clock’s quiet tick was a countdown. In less than an hour, the Council would convene. The shadowy cabal that had kept the Maris name alive, trapped beneath layers of power and betrayal. And Lena? She had refused—no—could not refuse—to take the vow. To bind herself to the family’s secret, the unspoken oath of silence. Every muscle in her body screamed against it, but her voice refused to betray the promise.

A sharp knock shattered the silence. Lena jumped, heart slamming. She wiped her clammy palms on her worn sleeves and stood.

“Lena.” The voice was low, clipped—like a whip cracked in cold air.

Damien Crowe stepped through the half-open door, his tall frame casting a long shadow. His gaze burned with that familiar, merciless fire—the same fire that had torn through her family’s legacy, piece by bloody piece.

“I thought you’d be at the meeting.” His lips curled into a grin that wasn’t a smile.

She swallowed, swallowing the knot twisting her throat. “I’m here.”

He stepped closer, footsteps echoing like gunshots in the hollow room. “The vow. You signed it.”

Her eyes flashed with defiance. “I did.”

“Do you even know what you’ve sworn?”

The words etched themselves in fire beneath her skin. She wanted to say no. To scream that it was a lie. But the truth was a specter, dark and smothering, and it whispered she’d already lost control.

“Protect the family secret,” she murmured, voice barely above the rain’s patter.

Damien’s grin widened, claws tightening around the knife she could no longer see. “Or so you think. But the real chains… they’re this close to snapping.”

His hand hovered near his coat pocket, a silent threat hanging heavy in the air.

Lena’s breath hitched. The room seemed to tilt. Was this the beginning—or the end?

A sudden, piercing ping from her phone shattered the suspended silence. She glanced down. A message stared back: “Check the documents. Something’s off.” Unknown sender.

Jaw clenched, heart pounding like a war drum, Lena realized the vow she’d sworn might have been the first lie—woven not to protect, but to bind her in a cage of deceit.

She turned back to Damien, mind racing, every nerve alive.

Behind those cold city lights, an invisible war had already begun. And Lena had just stepped into the storm.

The knock came again—sharper, more urgent.

This time, she didn’t hesitate.

With a blade of dread cutting through her chest, Lena reached for the door.

Her unbreakable vow was unraveling—thread by fragile thread.
