Capítulo 1
The sharp clack of Elenna Vale’s heels echoed off the sterile marble walls of the Draxel Corporation’s lobby. Each step felt like a countdown—ticking down the last fragile moments of her family’s fortune, and her freedom. The sleek glass doors ahead reflected a fractured image of herself: a woman teetering on the edge of ruin, dressed in a borrowed blazer that didn’t quite fit, clutching a portfolio heavy with unpaid bills and broken dreams.
She wasn’t just selling her designs anymore. She was about to sell herself.
Two weeks ago, the Vale architecture firm, once the crown jewel of the city’s skyline, had crumbled beneath a mountain of debt and bad contracts. Today was the day Elena either found salvation or collapsed under the weight of her legacy. The city around her glittered with endless wealth—penthouse lights blinking like cold stars—but none of that shimmer reached her. Only the desperate cold inside, pressing her forward.
The receptionist barely glanced up when Elena stepped into the towering office elevator. No warmth, no welcome. Just another cog in the monolith of Kieran Draxel’s empire. The ride sliced through twenty floors, the digital numbers rising with mechanical precision. With each ding, her heart throbbed louder, an anxious rhythm drowning out the quiet hum of decreasing hope.
The doors slid open to reveal a minimalist penthouse office. Floor-to-ceiling windows bled natural light across stark steel furniture. And there, behind a desk polished to clinical perfection, sat Adrian Draxel—a titan among men, his presence commanding the room like a storm held at bay.
He looked up, blue eyes sharp as razors, assessing her with a mixture of curiosity and cold calculation.
“Elena Vale,” he said, voice smooth but edged with iron. “I’ve heard your situation is… precarious.”
She swallowed the knot rising in her throat and stepped forward. “Mr. Draxel. Thank you for seeing me.”
He gestured to the chair opposite him without breaking eye contact. Elena sank down, trying to push away the tremor that crept through her fingers.
“It’s rare I entertain contract offers from architects these days,” Adrian said, tapping a pen against his desk. “Your firm’s reputation precedes you, though. Even if it’s faltering.” The faintest trace of a smirk flickered on his lips.
Elena forced her hands to lie still on her lap. “I’m here because my family’s company is on the brink of collapse. I need a lifeline—a project that can restore trust and finances.” She met his gaze, steadying herself. “I believe we can help each other.”
Adrian leaned back, fingers steepled beneath his chin. “A mutually beneficial alliance. I like the sound.” His eyes narrowed, sharp enough to cut glass. “But alliances in this city have layers. Far more than a simple contract.”
The words hit her like a silent grenade, the room suddenly colder, the stakes higher. She swallowed again, nodding. “I’m ready for whatever conditions you have.”
His eyes glittered with something unreadable—a secret promise, or a veiled threat.
“Good.” His voice dropped lower, deadly calm. “Because this isn’t just about architecture or money. It’s about legacy, power, and... commitment.”
Elena’s brow furrowed, heart tightening. “Commitment?”
From a drawer, Adrian slid a thick leather folder across the desk like a challenge. The embossed letters read simply: “Contract Marriage.”
Elena blinked, disbelief crashing over her like icy water. She stared at him. “Marriage?”
Adrian’s gaze didn’t waver. “Yes. A contract marriage. I’m offering you the chance to save your family’s legacy—not with a typical partnership, but with a bond that will solidify your position. Protect your company. And mine.”
Her breath hitched, the weight of his words sinking into every nerve. The luxurious penthouse suddenly felt like a cage.
“And there are terms,” he said, voice low and relentless. “Strict. Non-negotiable. Conditions you must accept to make this alliance real—and binding.”
Elena’s pulse hammered in her ears. Her body screamed to run, but her mind clawed for survival.
“What terms?” she whispered, the truth of her desperation folding into the shadowed promise behind his eyes.
Adrian smiled—a slow, dangerous curve. “That’s what I intend to explain. But first, I need to know—how far are you willing to go for your family?”
Silence swallowed the room. Then Elena nodded, voice trembling but resolute:
“As far as it takes.”
Adrian’s phone buzzed sharply on the desk. He glanced down, then back up with a piercing gaze.
“Good. Then we have much to discuss.”
Before she could speak, a soft knock shattered the tension. The door creaked open just an inch.
A shadow slipped inside, unnoticed by Adrian but frozen Elena in place—her name whispered from lips laced with ice:
“Elena.”
Her breath caught. The game had only just begun.
